Teamware announces
Teamware Office 5.4 (13.3.2001)
The
most versatile groupware solution offered over the Web
Teamware
Group, a Fujitsu subsidiary, announces today the availability of
the brand new edition of Teamware Office, a complete set of groupware
applications for today's business professionals. In Teamware Office
5.4, the main emphasis is on Web service enhancements on both the
server and client side. These enhancements make Teamware Office
5.4 the most versatile groupware solution offered over the Web.
"The rich
functionality of the Web based Teamware Office clients offer the
best usability on the collaborative application market today. Being
highly scaleable also in the Web environment the system enables
large Web based installations. This provides remarkable cost savings
for large corporate users", says Jukka Paananen, Business
Director for Teamware Office
The new look
& feel for the Web service client templates has been developed
according to extensive usability research and customer requests.
Improved features take the browser-based system onto the similar
level of functionality with the traditional Windows-based groupware
version.
"This is the first Teamware Office edition with the main focus
on the browser side. Using the system via the Web means faster and
more cost-efficient administration and makes the remote use of the
groupware easier than ever", says Hans Halsema, Product
Manager for Teamware Office.
Teamware Office
5.4 is the first platform enabling Teamware Office-Pl@za integration,
which offers a tailor-made interactive browser-based service with
personalized desktop views. Teamware Pl@za is a set of ready-made,
modular Internet services integrated into a Java-based platform
used for interactive Web sites.
"Through the integrated system, users can share their information
with the public or access intranet services over the Internet. The
total system administration can be handled centrally from one place",
promises Halsema.
Other major
new features of Teamware Office 5.4 include security enhancements
in the MIME/SMTP connector, such as filtering and avoidance of unwanted
mail items, limiting connections to SMTP responder to only known
POP3/IMAP4 clients as well as automatic deleting of error mails
after given period of retries. Edition 5.4 also has enhanced reliability
against insufficient disk space, for database recovery and resuming
services.
Additionally
Teamware Office now supports a secondary server feature, which enables
the user to operate multiple Teamware Office servers independently
on one Solaris server machine.
Teamware Office
contains everything needed for efficient collaboration and communication:
e-mail, document management, enterprise-wide discussion forums and
information distribution, personal time management and shared resource
booking. The modular structure allows the user to specify the solution
according to his needs and budget. Teamware Office, which runs in
standard environments supporting Windows NT/2000, Sun Solaris and
Linux platforms, is available in nine different languages.
