Lifestyle Portal for the 55+ Lunched in Sweden -
Teamware Pl@za Provides the Structure for Interaction
(29.8.2000)

The Swedish Pantertorget.com ("The Panther Market"), a life-style portal for people over 55, is a forum for members called Panthers, featuring unlimited contact networks, discussion groups and information adapted to the target group. The portal solution has been created by Teamware Pl@za.

After eight years of enjoying "Panther" marathons, "Panther" days and other activities, Scandinavia can look forward to the debut of Panthers on the Web. Pantertorget.com is a vertical portal containing information that the 55+ target group is looking for and needs. Besides links, Pantertorget.com offers chat groups, medical advice and bargain prices on travel and different products. Pantertorget.com, which serves as a contact link between organizations, companies and private persons, can be found at www.pantertorget.com.

The purpose of Pantertorget.com is to let users experience an improved quality of life and social well-being by giving them access to information and services, via the Web, that are specially adapted to their needs.

"Teamware Pl@za was the obvious choice for us. We already had a home page, but it only worked as an information brochure. We wanted to develop it with more functions. Pl@za is a ready-made package that was easy to supplement with the already existing site. Now, at last, we have a portal that makes the website an interactive meeting place for seniors who want a little rock ‘n roll in their lives," says Henrik Fritz Crone, founder of Pantertorget.

Pl@za, which runs on Java, creates a new and functional web platform for organizations or companies that have members or employees spread out over a wide geographical area. By using Pl@za, the users can create their own discussion groups and make new contacts, thereby increasing participation in and commitment to the issues at hand.

"Teamware Pl@za was recently launched in Sweden, and Pantertorget.com is one of our first customers in the lifestyle portal segment. We’ve noticed that it’s becoming more and more important for organizations and companies to create new meeting places for their members. We’re happy to see the opportunities that are opening up specifically for the 55+ target group thanks to Pl@za," says Erik Andersson, Country Manager, Teamware Group AB.

Pantertorget

Pantertorget AB, which began its operation in 1999, is the portal for everyone over 55. Pantertorget is run by Idea House, the organization that initiated the Senior Marathon and has since then initiated other activities for this target group. Over the years, confidence and a lasting collaboration have been established between Idea House and the major retiree organizations. Pantertorget has set its sights on being the home page for people over 55, offering them customised activities and information. In the near future, Pantertorget will also be accessible in the other Nordic countries.
