Pl@za
based Short Messaging Service Included in Mobile Portal
An
operator- and hardware-independent mobile portal, Port Alma, was
opened on 30 April in Finland providing access to Alma Media's news,
information, entertainment and experience services. The new portal,
based on WAP and SMS services, will also operate in GPRS and UMTS
environments. Alma Media is Finland's leading provider of new media
content.
Decode, Teamware
Group’s affiliate, has created the SMS services which are financed
by advertising and, thus, free-of-charge for the end users.
The user can
choose what news services to receive from news headlines, NHL and
Formula1 news, recipes, horoscopes, music and entertainment. The
service is based on profiling and personalizing agent technology
used by Decode. This provides users to receive one advertisement
a day in addition to the subscibed service. The users can choose
the topic of the advertisement as well as the time of day it is
sent to them.
The SMS service
is built on the Teamware Pl@za platform which is connected to Alma
Media’s AHAA database with over 513 000 registered users. The new
mobile portal is available to all customers of teleoperators operating
in Finland.
