Unique e-marketplace for Finnish trade fair visitors and exhibitors

Teamware builds interactive Web service for Helsinki Fair (6.3.2001)

Helsinki Fair Ltd., the second largest exhibition organizer in Finland, has chosen Teamware Group to renew its Web site. The unique Web service that Teamware will build for Helsinki Fair will offer an interactive e-marketplace for trade fair visitors and exhibitors. The solution will be implemented on the Teamware Pl@za platform.

"We want to improve our customer service by enhancing the services offered over the Internet. By investing substantially in the Web we can add value to our core business and offer our customers a distinctive way to interact and do business online", says Olli Syvänen, Managing Director of Helsinki Fair Ltd.

With the new Web solution it is possible to match the various needs and requirements of exhibitors and visitors. Exhibitors are able to reach exactly the right target groups, and visitors can find the contacts, services and products they need.

"By utilizing Helsinki Fair’s extensive experience in organizing face-to-face events and Teamware’s advanced Web community technology, we can take traditional trade fair events onto a whole new level", states Markku Rouhiainen, Vice President responsible for Teamware’s Community Solutions Business.

Teamware was chosen to build the system, because it was able to offer a ready-made component-based solution, Teamware Pl@za.

"We needed a reliable and experienced partner that was able to deliver in the agreed timeframe. By applying the ready-made platform, we don’t need to begin from the very beginning, but instead can utilize the services tested in different environments and tailored to our requirements", emphazises Syvänen.

The sizeable agreement will strengthen Teamware’s position as an Internet services provider in Finland.

"Our solid background in product development combined with the latest Internet know-how is proving to be a successful direction. It is extremely interesting to start building Helsinki Fair’s innovative Web service that we are committed to develop also in the following years", says Rouhiainen.

The revamped Web service will be launched in the autumn of 2001. Besides the interactive e-marketplace, the solution will among other things include Web sites for individual events, information on services provided by Helsinki Fair, and an extranet for exhibitors.

Helsinki Fair Ltd.

Helsinki Fair Ltd. has been organizing targeted professional and consumer events since 1985. It is the second largest exhibition organizer in Finland with 40 employees and an approximately 44 million turnover. In the year 2001, twenty face-to-face events will be organized in the Helsinki Fair exhibition premises, called Wanha Satama, in the center of Helsinki.
