Finnish Civil Engineers chose Teamware

Teamware Group, a Fujitsu subsidiary, will build an interactive web site for the Association of Finnish Civil Engineers RIL. Based on the Teamware Pl@za® platform the new site will include interactive services to enhance communication between the association and its members.

With the renewed site RIL wants to improve its member services by offering a well-targeted and effective communications channel. The different committees and workgroups of the association will be provided with their own virtual workspaces, open 24 hours a day.

"Now our members can comment on and react to different issues and give us feedback in real-time as well as talk to each other over the web", says Managing Director Jyrki Keinänen from RIL.

In the long run the association expects to receive cost-savings and create business opportunities with the new site.

"We can utilize the web in the sales of our publications, which can now be ordered through the web. Later on they can also be paid online", states Keinänen.

Teamware was chosen to deliver the new system because of its convincing references in the association market. Also the ‘Repeatable Solutions’ approach pleased RIL.

"We were aware of several projects where Teamware Pl@za has been successfully used in building web communities for associations", says Keinänen and continues: "We also appreciated the fact that there was a large amount of ready-made service components that could be directly implemented in our solution".

RIL is a technical and scientific society with individual members who have at least a Master of Science degree in civil engineering and construction. Nearly 100% of the civil engineering students are enrolled as junior members of RIL. The Society of Heating Engineers in Finland LIVI is also a member of RIL. RIL is working as a technical and scientific CE-society and developing Finnish civil and construction engineering. RIL also works for the improvement of the welfare and quality of life of all civil engineers and technical students.
