What’s new in Teamware Office 7.4

Teamware Office 7.4 introduces long-term mail archiving along with many other new features in the clients, server and WebService. Integration capabilities are enhanced by new interfaces.

Key new features

Storypic6Teamware Office 7.4 server integrates with the new Teamware Office Archive Server (optional component) to enable automatic mail archiving and indexing for free text search. The Archive Server is a Java-based server running on a standard Tomcat servlet container. End user access to archived messages is offered directly from the Mail client. Thus users have all their messages, online and archived, easily available for them without separate clients or additional logins.

Another time-saving, usability enhancing feature is that users can reply and forward archived messages directly from the archive without first restoring the messages to their online mailbox. An administrator-defined retention rule determines the age of archived messages. At expiration messages are automatically deleted from the archive. The Archive Server and Teamware Office Search Server support indexing MS Office 2007 files and opaque and clear signed messages.

Teamware Office 7.4 clients provide usability enhancing new features such as automatic filling of recipients in Mail and Calendar, a new Quick Search field and the full folder path displayed in search results in the Mail client. Multiple delegate users can now subscribe to notifications of the accessed mailbox.

WebService introduces a new Task service that helps coordinate shared work. A user can assign tasks to others and follow their progress. Personal tasks can also be created. Another novelty in WebService is new interactive Calendar views based on Ajax technology. These views provide easy-to-use direct manipulation interaction to create and modify appointments. WebService Mail allows the user to create automatic mail filters to sort incoming messages to specified target folders.

An external LDAP directory can now be used in Teamware Directory.

Integration capabilities have been enhanced with extensions to Teamware Office XML API and by introducing a new event-based mechanism to pass topic messages to subscribing external systems upon such events in the Teamware Office system as creation or modification of an appointment. The event-based technology is available as Teamware Office Event Server.

Teamware Office Statistics has also been improved with new features including Library statistics and usability enhancements.
