Development View for Future Teamware Office Releases
An approaching new release typically raises interest not only in the upcoming release but also what comes after it. In Teamware Office, the coming years will see the continuation of the development lines that were started already a couple of years ago. Significant new steps will also be initiated.
New Functionality
Year 2007 saw the start of newly developed Java-based server components enabling significant new functionality in the form of Free Text Search and more recently Mail Archiving. Free text searching will be extended further to cover Calendar and WebService applications. New versions of Mail Archive will come up as new requirements are adapted to the product.
Teamware Office clients will be further extended with new features that offer flexibility and efficiency to end users.
Integration
Another trend that will continue is extending Teamware Office integration capabilities. The first version of an event-based integration enabling server product called Teamware Office Event Server was released last year. The Event Server has attracted a significant interest immediately after its release with its potential for integrating Teamware Office to other vital software systems in the organization. This and other integration features such as extending search APIs will be a focus of new releases as well.
Integration in Microsoft Environment
As reported in the December issue of Teamware Webzine, year 2010 will add a new dimension to integrating Teamware Office. Integration between Teamware Office and Microsoft SharePoint Server is currently under development and will be released later this year. Technical investigations are done to specify the possibilities to use Outlook client against Teamware Server. Other integration opportunities such as using Teamware Office with Microsoft Unified Communciations will follow.
